Paralegal document preparation, done with precision

Legal Prep is a New York paralegal service that prepares legal filings at your direction, in English and Spanish. Most of our work is USCIS immigration paperwork. The rest is the everyday filings a family or a small business runs into: an uncontested divorce, a business license, a will.

What we do

We prepare, organize and review filings: the forms, the evidence checklist, the cover letter and the assembled package. For USCIS that means family petitions, adjustment of status, naturalization, work permits and travel documents, removal of conditions, green card renewals, fee waivers, responses to requests for evidence, FOIA requests for a person's immigration file, and preparation for the interview.

Every form we prepare has a free plain-language guide on this site, with the current filing fee read from the USCIS fee schedule and a link to the USCIS processing-time tool, so you can see what a filing involves before you talk to anyone.

What we are not

Legal Prep LLC is not a law firm. We do not give legal advice, choose a legal strategy for you, or represent you before USCIS or any court. What we do is explain what each form covers, who it is for and what USCIS asks for, so that you can decide, and then prepare the filing you have decided on with care.

When a case turns on a legal judgment (a prior removal, a criminal record, an unusual entry history) we say so plainly and refer you to an immigration attorney. Sending someone to a lawyer when they need one is part of the service, not a failure of it.

How we work

Every engagement starts with a conversation, in English or Spanish, about your situation and what the filing involves, before you commit to anything. You get a document checklist written for your case. We complete the forms from your answers, assemble the evidence in the order an officer reads it, and review every line with you before anything is filed. After filing we stay with the case: the receipt notice, status changes, any request for evidence, and the interview.

Government filing fees are paid to USCIS and are separate from preparation. We go over the full cost of a filing, ours and the government's, before you decide.

Where and in which languages

We are based in New York and work with clients across the United States: USCIS filings are federal, and calls, document review and delivery all happen by phone, WhatsApp and email. Every service, call and document review is available in English and Spanish, and so is every page of this site.

For legal matters in Colombia, we work with independent attorneys licensed there. That is a separate practice with its own page.
